This one is personal, so it’s not going to any publication. Unfiltered content. This is more like my story and some life lessons sort of a thing than a design lessons thing. It’s a 3 part series. If you haven’t read Part 1 & 2, please do if you’d like some context.

IDC warnings, it’s raw content: Spelling mistakes? I don’t care. Grammatical mistakes? I don’t care. Something else? I just might care. Please send a DM. But this is truly unfiltered content. Enjoy?

And before I knew, I grew up. PS: Did the cool hand thing even before it was a thing :)

So far, the journey has been beautiful. I’ve had so many learnings that I shared you as lessons.

Now, that the reflecting back part is done, and I have told you about the present, let’s talk about the future.

I was in CyberHub in Gurgaon with someone and was just walking back towards the exit at night. It was a pleasant night and I spent some good time there. There was slight wind, but it was slightly hot too. I remember looking up to the skyscrapers. Tried to read a name on top of a company. It said, Rockwell something. I dont exactly remember. But then looking up at that name I realised there are so many ways in which you can do business. You could be the middleman of an entire chain and people will never even know about you brand name. But you will earn money. I mean looking at that company’s name on the top of the building I realised something — I want to build an empire.

Lesson: Shoot for the moon so that you end up in the stars.

Today, I was walking with a new friend of mine that I made at WeWork. Surprisingly, I remember his name: Shubham. He’s 29 and an engineer and loves to talk about products & business. So that is exactly what we were doing. He mentioned how Deepinder Goyal, the Founder of Zomato is now investing in fitness, entered the ticket buying market, bought grofers and called and blinkit and what not. One word two syllables. Increde-ble! Idk if that’s right english it just sounded cool :P Started watching How I met you r mother again, haha! Anyway. Coming back to the story. So, I then asked him is he from IIT and he said yes! And I was like what? Damn. That’s why he’s like that. And that — right there — is another problem of mine. I always find reasons — for everything! :/

Lesson: Circumstances dont matter. Action does.

— Shreshth (yeah, putting it for the record. This one sounds good.) :P

A few days back I was working on a project and got a call from my legal consulting teams. The mail notif read “Search & Opinion on ‘Keon’ — Company and Trademark Registration”. I was like finally, all set! Let’s just put things in action. So, I opened the mail — Read it through — no details. “Hmm, that’s weird” I thought. The mail came with many attachments, so I opened up the main one. Scrolled upar upar se. Reached conclusion:

“In light of the above-mentioned findings, the registration and use of the mark “KEON” appears to have potential hurdles. There exists various entities that are already using the mark “KEON”. In a scenario wherein there are multiple owners of the identical or deceptively similar trademark, it is then difficult to claim exclusive rights on the said mark and there is a constant potential threat from the
third parties.

In our opinion, the potential mark “KEON” is not available for registration or use in India in classes 42 and 35.”

Hmm, so, saari mehant bekkar!? Yeahh. Anyway, I was pissed off. The moment I read the mail I started searching new names. After 15 mins got frustrated. Went downstairs to get some fresh air. Called Karan (a very close friend, works in a diffirent company but is in my building only). I asked him to meet me. He was busy with some stuff. I decided to come back. Worked for another 30 mins — bey man se & then I just packed my stuff & left. Put on GTA 4 theme music and took the metro. After an hour, I was about to reach home & Karan called. Told him the outline, but was feeling much better then. I was about to enter home and I said “Huhh, tomorrow will be better”. Cause tomorrow never comes. Hope is a thing. Anyway, told my parents about it. Mom tried to lighten up the mood with a joke! :)

Anyway, this is also one of the reasons why this article is so delayed. Reasons? Haha. Yep, that’s me. :)

Lesson: No matter what happens. Tomorrow will be better.

It’s been a week now and I found a new name. Again there are similar problems, but I will sort it out. Eventually. That’s what I am here for! :)

I met a stranger the other day, and he asked me, why don’t you join a company and get a job? And I paused and replied “I would be lying if I will say I haven’t thought about it” paused for a seond or two. Even he was looking at me and waiting for me to speak more. and I continued “But ek he ab to kuud gay a hu…” and he took over and continued “..and jabtak pasie hai sahi hai” and I again took over and continued “…ab to zero hone tak yahi sab karunga — fir dekhte hai…” and he continued “…sahi baat hai.” I think Julius burnt the bridge after the army crossed the river? Whoever it was, someone said it or did that. I’ll do the same.

Lesson: When you think you should go back to the other side of the river and not face the challenge ahead of you, take two steps back, burn bridge and keep moving forward.

This can be taken in many ways, mera context samajh lo bas.

Anyway, so yeah, this more or less completes this part — what lies ahead — no one knows but time. And time is a bitch. Anyway, it’s 2:52 am and it’s tome to go back to work again. Wondering what I am going to do next?

Write the future.

Thank you so much for reading all theses 3 parts. I dont even know why I have written it. But who cares. These were just me expressing myself and my learnings — agar kisi ek insaan ko kuch seekhne ko mila ho isse — bhaut hai! Also, interestingly, for the first time in a long time, for aperosnal goal of mine, I was ble to finish something. These 3 articles. Chalo kuch to complete hua — itni mehnat se. Big achievement! Lot’s more to come! :)

Next up would most probably be a serious design or product article or something work related. Until then:

Take care! Bye! :)
